CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES

Aboriginal Mentoring

At We Care we have both male and female Aboriginal mentors that are passionate about and committed to working with your children, young people and families to learn more about their culture and support their cultural knowledge.

Our mentors are assisted by the community to guide and support Aboriginal children and young people. All services are individualised, based on the needs of the child, young person and their families, however all focus on strengthening community ties through learning more about their culture whilst supporting their cultural needs.

When engaging with our Aboriginal Mentoring service, We Care develop a support plan which details how the mentor will work with the child or young person to build on their cultural knowledge, and develop their understanding of their culture, heritage and community. This includes conversations around men’s business and women’s business.

We Care Aboriginal mentors are provided
with specialist training and senior management and allied health supports to meet the complex needs of the children and young people they support.
