Connect We Care
for allied health professionals in our community
In 2023 We Care NSW announced the start of Connect We Care – for Allied Health professionals in our community. The foundation of this new community is to bring together allied health professionals across the Hunter and to build their skills and collaborate with other professionals in therapeutic, person-centred care.
It will provide the scope to:
Offer training opportunities,
to continue to develop
therapeutic skills without
the need for travel
to a capital city
Provide opportunity
for individual peer
supervision, for those
growing their career
or working in
solitary positions
Collaborate within
the local community,
allowing a greater depth
to service provision
and understanding of
community needs
Our first training event was Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). An attachment-based intervention for depression, anxiety, affective and eating disorders for adolescents and adults. Recognised as evidence-based training for Medicare’s Better Access Initiative the intervention can be suitable to those of all ages, from children to the elderly.
In Spring 2023 we were excited to bring Narrative Therapy to the Hunter for a two-day course. A practice considered appropriate for a range of ages, concerns and an approach highly appropriate for Aboriginal people. It involves working with people around their stories, reaching for a positive effect for their mental health.
