Child and Family Services
We are dedicated to providing culturally appropriate and trauma informed services to children, young people and families supported by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) or funded via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The outcomes of the Family is Culture Report are endorsed by our services and as an organisation, we are wholly committed to delivering services that are consistent with the recommendations made in this report and living
our CARES values – Caring, Accountability, Respect, Empowerment and Safety. Our work closely supports Closing the Gap principles and is aligned with the Standards of Permanent Care set by the Office of the Children’s Guardian as an accredited provider of child protection services in both residential and foster care, as well as the NDIS practice standards as an accredited provider of NDIS services.
We Care Child and Family Services all practice through the Matung Wannay practice framework, which means ‘Courageous Children’ in local Wonnarua Aboriginal language. This includes training, support, and governance to ensure culturally specific and trauma informed best practice, and the best outcomes for those we support and their families and communities.
Our staff have completed or are working towards a Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent and have completed accredited training in therapeutic crisis intervention (TCI). All teams are supported by experienced, senior staff who have significant practice in delivering culturally focused and trauma informed therapeutic care. The allied health clinical team provide consultation to ensure our services are designed to meet the individual needs of children, young people and the families whom we support.
