Medicare’s Better Access Scheme for Psychology appointments

Affordable, quality psychology services

We know how difficult it can be to access psychological services. That's why we're happy to announce that, after a busy time, our books are open again to take in new patients.

Based in Maitland, our experienced and dedicated team provides consultations under Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health Scheme. The cost and rebate for services are as follows:

General Psychology

We charge $150 per appointment and patients who have had a mental health plan done by their GP can get a rebate of $89.65. This leaves the cost to you after rebate at $60.35.

Clinical Psychology

An hourly appointment is charged at $190 per hour, with a rebate of $131.65. the cost to you after rebate is $58.35.

Our team:

All our psychologists are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and Medicare, have clinical experience and receive supervision from our service lead, senior psychologist Kasey Ackers.

Kasey

Kasey is a Senior Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience working as a Psychologist in various clinical roles. Kasey has a special interest in working with adults and young adults with a broad range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, low self-esteem, adjustment issues, identity formation, and relationship concerns. As a board-approved Supervisor for Provisionally Registered Psychologists, Kasey also enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience to help support new psychologists in their professional development.

Kasey is a firm believer that a good therapeutic relationship is imperative in achieving the best outcome for her clients, and always ensures she takes the time to get to know her client’s goals, hopes and motivations. Kasey does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach and tailors her way of working to each individual to ensure every client feels heard and achieves their therapeutic goals.

Kasey is also a passionate foodie who enjoys cooking up a storm when she is not at work.

Rebecca

Rebecca is a registered psychologist who is experienced with conducting assessments and using evidence-based therapies, including CBT and ACT. Rebecca works from a trauma-informed framework and has a nurturing and easy-going approach to help meet the individual needs of the client.

Rebecca has a special interest in working with children and clients from CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds. When Rebecca is not at work, she enjoys playing sport, surfing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Josh

Josh is a Registered Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist Registrar. He has clinical experience working with neurodiverse children, adolescents, teens and young adults. He has experience conducting cognitive, educational and behavioural assessments, as well as, other psychometric screeners. Josh also has experience working with people across the lifespan with various presentations, including, depression, anxiety, trauma and chronic pain.

Josh has experience utilising interventions from various frameworks, including CBT, Behavioural Therapy and ACT. Josh has a keen interest in working within the Aboriginal community. Josh also has clinical interests in trauma, developmental disorders and LGBTQIA+ issues. When Josh is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching various shows on Netflix, spending time in nature and reading.
